☀️📚 Summer Reading: A Season for Stories, A Lifetime of Learning

As schools wind down and the warm days of summer (across the west) and the beautiful rainy season here in India begins, we at The Read Aloud Project and Spin A Yarn India are reminded of something simple yet powerful: reading never takes a vacation.
Summer is not just a break from routine—it’s a golden opportunity. A time when children can fall into books like they fall into rivers and dreams. And yet, studies show that students who don’t engage with reading over the summer can lose 20–30% of what they learned during the school year.
But there’s good news: just 20 minutes of reading a day can help a child stay curious, confident, and connected. Whether it’s a magical novel, a family folktale, or a comic shared under the covers, every word builds a stronger, smarter reader.
At The Read Aloud Project, we believe that stories are best shared out loud—between parents and children, teachers and students, elders and young ones. Every read-aloud moment boosts comprehension, vocabulary, and imagination.
At Spin A Yarn India, we know the power of stories passed down—across generations, across languages. Indian folktales, myths, and oral traditions deserve to live on, not just in books, but in voices. This summer, let’s read in mother tongues, let’s share stories from our own families, and let’s keep India’s storytelling legacy alive.
So whether you’re by the beach, in the mountains, or curled up at home—we encourage you to pack a book, read together, and make this summer one to remember.
